Whether it is summer, winter or spring, your lips reflects the state of health. Generally, people have misconceptions that lips get dry only during winters, but summer is no different. Summers evaporates large amount of water from our body, leaving our body dry and dehydrated. Water is the most important elements of our body that helps in transferring all nutrients and oxygen to different organs of the body.

Our lips are the first ones to get affected in sizzling summers. They dry lips indicate the loss of water and essential nutrients from your body. During summers our body gets very easily get exposed to heavy rays of sun. The harmful rays of sun destroy the health of your lips. Thus, it is better to prevent the health of your lips. Here are some home remedies and useful tips for chapped lips.

  • Tips for chapped lipsDrink plenty of water throughout the day. Carry ample of water wherever you go. Water is the most essential for our body to remain hydrated, thus at least nine to ten glass of water in a day.
  • You may also consume lot of fluids in your diet. Cut down the intake of carbonated sodas, tea, or coffee. Drink fresh fruits juice or vegetables juice. Butter milk is very good option after your meals.
  • Shea butter can be applied on chapped lips and let it remain for overnight. You may the effects in the morning.
  • Coconut oil or almond oil is also best remedy to nourish your lips. They will help in lessening the dryness and moist your lips.
  • Slow down on spicy, salty, and hot food items.
  • Apply a good quality sun block containing minimum SPF-15. Apply it after every three hours.
  • Avoid the use of any gel, lipstick, or lip balm which contains alcohol. These petroleum based products worsen the situation.
  • Include lot of green leafy veggies and bright colored fruits in your diet.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes.
  • Use a soft tooth brush to remove dead cells from your lips. Softly brush your lips and apply some moisturizer after the process.
  • Check out if your are allergic to any flavor of toothpaste or mouthwash.
  • You may place a cloth soaked in cold water on your lips. Or just suck an ice cube.

Al these tips are very important to prevent your lips from getting dehydrated and chapped.
