It was hell experience for 5 year old Isobel’s parents when they use to see their doting child in unendurable pain. For any parent it is just like facing death. Children have huge power: when they laugh the entire world laugh with them and when they cry the entire world cry with them. One should have great threshold to see a child a crying. At least for me I couldn’t see that sweet little Isobel crying out of pain. But sometimes cure is not in our hands but yes prayers and preventions are definitely in our hands.

Isobel’s family was my neighbor. Her father Dr.Luis was a physician. They were a lovely family. Both her parents were absolutely crazy for sweet little Isobel. But like it is said life is not all time lovely. All three of them use to feel helpless when they use to see Isobel crying. Isobel was suffering from Epilepsy. She use to frequently have seizures, and whenever she use to have seizures it was really painful to see her.

But recently Isobel’s neurologist had found that she was going through Neurocysticercosis. It was like adding more spice to the broth. But what was more saddening when Luis told me that there are many people who are completely unaware of Neurocysticercosis and to my surprise they are very simple solutions to prevent this disease. but since people are unaware of the disease to take preventions for it is far away.

Once me, Luis and his wife Cheryl had been on walk with little Isobel when suddenly Luis came broke that something has to be done for people to get aware of such kind of disease. the question was how to reach the target mob which clicked me and I suggested luis that I can write about this Neurocysticercosis and can also mention the precautions that people can follow so that kids like Isobel don’t suffer. So I decided to pen it down and I really hope that all this information gives you a great help.

Neurocysticercosis is one of the most common parasites which invades the central nervous system. Neurocysticercosis is a state in which parasitic tapeworms, from contaminated water and food, finds their way into the human brain. It is developed in human being after consuming the eggs or larvae of TAPEWORM. This eggs or larvae are usually found in contaminated food or water. As this tapeworm resides themselves in human brain they start attacking the cells of brain which causes headaches, epilepsy, imbalance and even sudden death.

Many doctors have mentioned that people don’t wash their vegetables before eating. Since this worms are present on vegetable which grow in contaminated water they are the carrier of tapeworms to your brain. Hence it is very important to wash those vegetables before consuming and specially raw vegetables that are eaten as salads.

Researchers have proved that epilepsy can be won to a great extent if two of the preventable causes, namely birth injuries and Neurocysticercosis. But many doctors say that it is becomes nearly impossible to avoid birth injuries but Neurocysticercosis can definitely be prevented.

The simplest preventions that can be counted are:

Quick Treatment of infected persons.

Health education should be started in schools for kids regarding Neurocysticercosis.

Proper disposal of sewage use of good sanitation.

Growing vegetables in free water, free from contamination.

Wash hands before meals and after defecation.

Through washing, scrubbing and peeling of vegetables, especially of those eaten raw or used in salads such as carrot, cucumber or cabbage.

Drinking boiled water.

When a child gets a seizure, parents should not waste time in taking him/her to a neurologist. The WHO says 70% of newly diagnosed epileptic patients can be successfully treated with medicines.

After two to five years, drugs can be withdrawn for about 70% children.

I hope I am able to give a perfect information and it proves to be a great usage to everyone.

It is very important to have good and hygienic food.

It is no less then scary nightmares to spend even couple of moments in hospital and for that matter any hospital in the world. But there are such tough times when you have to spend precious moments of your life in an undesired place of the world. Well, recently I had been on visit to my friend who was hospitalized. He had met with an accident and since the nurse was getting him dressed, I had to no other option then to loiter through the hospital.

During my walk, I came through a Green plate with Red Letters on it named as “Epilepsy “. Well, like you guys even I felt it as tongue twister but I guess the name itself was enough for me to get into details of the scary word. My eye balls started seeking someone who could tell me what does this tongue twister really meant.

Fortunately, there was this pretty good looking and calm nurse who, I thought will definitely guide me. Like a kindergarten kid I kept all my queries in a breathless tone. She gave a smirk. Smile… it confuse people. I kept quiet in expectation that she will definitely tell.

“Epilepsy, an ancient Greek word is a common chronic neurological disorder characterized by perennial wanton seizures. These seizures are symptoms of abnormal, excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in your brain “

This was insane. My eyes pleaded to her that either you explain in simpler words or I better go off. She sensed my discomfort and smiled again; oh heaven I hate this Smiles.

Her voice, much soft this time got me back “well to in simple words Epilepsy is a disorder of central nervous system specially brain. Our nervous system is a communication network that controls every emotion, thought, impression, memory and movement. Nervous system throughout body acts like telephonic wires which enables brain to communicate with every organ of body via electric signals. And this is where the problem arises, when these electric signals rhythm tend to get imbalanced; it results into seizures which causes Epilepsy. Our brain works on electricity. Usually at every point our brain generates tiny electrical impulses in an orderly pattern. These impulses travel along the network of nerve cells, called neurons, in the brain and while they travel throughout the body via chemical messengers called neurotransmitters. A seizure happens when the brain’s nerve cells dud and generate a sudden, uncontrolled surge of electrical activity in the brain it leads to Epilepsy “

Before I could conclude to thank her and take her leave she went on “ Today people don’t understand how dangerous stress can turn out “ and I was left fumbled why on earth is she talking about stress now, and what does it has to do with this tongue twister she continued “ Emotional stress triggers increase in breathe rate which result in hyperventilation, and provokes seizures in human body”. This was unbelievable for me , I mean I knew that stress is poison to human body but can cause such a damage was really surprising.

I further asked her “ Does stress effects any other organ part in epilepsy victims which she answered “ Yeah , they do cause hormonal changes such as an increase in steroid hormone cortical which may influence seizures “.

“ also emotional stress like anger, fight are known to cause pallid ness to your face and changes in blood circulation. Emotions also results in vasoconstriction which causes a sudden and brief reduction of oxygen supply to brain “.

Lord this is just terrific. Sometimes there is so much in the world you are just unaware of. I thanked her this time with gratitude and this time her smiled made me smile ……… I left the hospital having few graceful words with my friend but keeping a sense to I definitely have to be away from STRESS.

Suddenly, I realized that we our high standard lifestyles are making our lives miserable. I remembered few lines from These Are the Gifts I’d Like to Give to You by Douglas Pagels which I had once read” Sometimes it’s important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it’s essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow. “
