Sunburns- care your child’s skin



Kids are generally fond of summer because of the fun activities they carry out in summers. They finish their school and entire concentration is on playing and fun. Summers keep them away from books and school pressures. Thus, they are in full energy for enjoyment. Well, fun and enjoyment is at its place, but parents need to take proper care of their kids in summers. They are more prone to fall sick during these days, thus it is essential to take some little efforts in regards with their health.

Sunburn in kidsPlaying in day time is the biggest passion for them. We completely understand that they have just finished a hectic school year, but it is essential to put some fence around them. Else they will spoil their health and mess their entire vacations. Summer brings along harmful rays, which destroys the cells of skin and leads to skin ailments. During this vacation, they try spending huge amount of time outdoors, thus it is essential to keep them away from serious skin ailments. It is very difficult to keep them away from outdoor, but we can definitely take some good precautions. Certain home remedies are very much beneficial in curing sunburns such as:

MilkMilk:

Milk is the best and simplest solution in the treatment of sunburns. Mix milk with equal parts of milk with cold water. Now soak some clean, soft cotton towels in this solution. Pat cloth on the affected areas, which will give immediate relief from pain and burning sensations. It will also soothe your skin.

Yogurt:

YogurtFew kids are allergic to milk, so you can opt for yogurt. Yogurt is a natural healer on numerous skin ailments. Thus, you may massage their skin with plain yogurt and let it remain for fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes, rinse it off with warm water. You may even try yogurt compressor- place some fresh plain yogurt in clean and soft cotton cloth.  Wrap this cloth as compressor on affected areas and let it remain for overnight. This will cure severe sunburns.

Rose petal vinegarRose petal vinegar:

Spray some rose petal vinegar on the affected areas. Or you make some soak soft towels in rose petal vinegar and wrap them on the burned areas. Later on make your child bath with some cool water. You can drop some rose petal vinegar in their bathtub and let them get soaked in the water for fifteen minutes. It will even guard their body from harmful rays.

Essential oils:

Lavender oilCertain oils are very much beneficial in the treatment of sunburns. Massage the skin of your child with essential oil such as lavender oil or chamomile oil. They are very much effective in soothing the burned skin, which will restore the skin of your child. You may spray some cool water mixed with few drops of essential oil- choose according to your child’s desire. Or you may even add few drops of oil to their bathtub and let them enjoy their bath.

Grated potatoesPotatoes:

Grated potatoes are the best solution on sunburns. Apply the grated potatoes to the affected parts or you may even apply juice of potatoes. This will reduce the excessive burning sensation and pain due to inflammation.

Honey:

HoneyHoney is natural healer, antioxidant, and sweetener. It is very beneficial for numerous skin ailments. Place some honey on clean and soft cotton cloth. Use it as a strip of gauze and wrap it around the affected area. It will provide amazing relief to your kid’s skin. Secondly, mix some honey with fresh lemon juice and apply this mixture on their skin. Keep it for some fifteen minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. Or you may combine some honey with milk for curing the burns.

Apart from all these home remedies, certain food products will protect your body from dehydration which worsens the sunburns. Food items such as cucumbers, watermelons, muskmelons, tomatoes, yogurt, lime water, coconut water, green tea, cantaloupe, orange, strawberries, and raspberry will protect your kid’s skin from sunburns and dehydration.
