“Oh! Heavens Sheryl you are looking damsel. I mean you are just terrific today. Is it real that you have gone older today? I guess you are fooling around” I blushed, and in soft tone replied “well, thank you.” and, swiftly moved away from my friend Andy. Gosh, it was just not Andy who took the pleasure of complimenting me but almost all my friends were saying the same phrases and I had nothing then to just smile or blush. I was getting a year older but I guess this praises and compliments made me feel havens.
I was happy and happy for I came with bang. Yes, you all are right just few months back I got myself in a hideout. No, no I dint commit any blunder but my mind and health had made me look like a mess. It is truth few months back I was not looking less then any ghost or any spirit. Dark circles, dry skin, dried lips. I was no doubt looking a horrifying object. My friends and well wisher gave me many useful tips which would make me beautiful. But nothing, almost nothing worked. Like Rabindranath Tagore has said “By plucking her petals, you don’t gather the beauty of flower.”
That was what exactly happening with me. I was leading such stressful life with my career on hand. My hands were already full but I somehow felt it empty as I was loosing my self confidence. I started taking long hours in front of mirror, it took me hundred hours to choose my outfits and even then I use to feel horrible. Nor was my mind was at its rest neither did my heart and this worsen the matter more.
I thought it better to seek counseling rather than to wonder in thoughts which give me a task to do something but I get nothing out of it. So I stopped drilling my brains and thought of assigning any one else to drill their brain for me. Wow! That sounds great. Someone else’s brain will be working for you benefiting you.
It was my counselor who made our first meet very comfortable and then she made me realize that nothing was wrong with my outer beauty. It is my inner self that was going wrong. And then we discussed a lot about my lifestyle, after listening to me for almost two hours. The line she commented was “Sheryl when can you spare time for your self?” I was left perplexed. Am I not giving her time right now? Or is she asking my availability for another appointment. I replied her with much more complex answer “ when do you want me to be available ?” she laughed for few minutes and after discovering that I was numb as I was before, she quickly regained herself. Her soothing voice was reflecting her “Sheryl I want you to give time for yourself be it an hour, be it 30 minutes or be it just 15 minutes in day but that time is only for you. Be with yourself and take care of yourself.”
I was trying to get her words when she found me getting lost in my thoughts. She broke my thought by saying “let’s create time for you” with fumbled words I replied “damn, how can one create time?” she took a deep breath as if she was trying to maintain her patience and “ we will create don’t worry” that where she told me about the power of peaceful healing and the power was called as yoga. It was an Indian way of meditating and making your inner self more strong and beautiful.
It was the very next that I started practicing with yoga and now I just can’t stop myself from blushing. So I decided to write down and share the facts the facts that brought magic on my face. But to be very honest it is just a way to say thanks to the complier of yoga ‘patanjali ‘ who helped me out and am very sure his theory will definitely help you also. And, more than that; I am just contributing a help to people like me who loose themselves in some fog.
Well like everyone knows that poor diet and poor stimulation of the circulatory and excretory systems and subsequent build up of toxins are the root cause of skin eruptions.
And hence Yoga exercises free from constipation and helps in the removal of the toxins from the body. Breathing exercises help to increase the self awareness of the human body and at the same time assists to provide better blood circulation in the human body. Blood circulation increases the amount of oxygen carried to various organs of the body which offers relaxation to the facial muscles and imparts a natural glow to the skin.
Breathing exercises performed with perfect body posture gives better results. Yoga helps to balance the hormones and boosts the amount of oxygen in the body. This provides rejuvenation to the muscles and prevents them from dryness and other skin irritations due to exposure to chemicals in the environment.

And the facial exercise also help in improving facial skin like:

- You can try special Mudra (finger combination) exercises called Varun Mudra. Connect the tip of the thumb and the smallest finger, which are the pressure points for the facial muscles this pose. This will remove dryness and give glowing skin.
- Shitli Kumbhak Pranayama has the potential to reduce facial wrinkles. It also improves blood circulation and purifies the blood, reduces toxins and acidity and prevents skin infections.
Fold the tongue so that it protrudes a little from the mouth. Slowly inhale through the mouth. While inhaling one should feel coolness inside the neck. Then swallow the breath and hold inside your stomach. Hold the breath for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly through the nose.
- The great rub is a massage technique that will increase the blood circulation and bring a healthy glow to your skin.
- The brow smoother, relaxes, smoothes and tones up the skin around the eyebrows.
- You can try special Mudra (finger combination) exercises called Varun Mudra. Connect the tip of the thumb and the smallest finger, which are the pressure points for the facial muscles this pose. This will remove dryness and give glowing skin.
- Yogic body cleaning processes known as Shatkarmas which are cleansing kriyas- actions like kunjal, neti, dhoti, vasti, sankhprakshalan and tratak are extremely powerful detoxification techniques.
And besides all this, yogic massages can also do wonder for your glowing skin:
- Yogic massage with different kind of oils such as almond oil, apricot oil and sandalwood oil are best for the skin. These massages also increase the circulation to the face and skin thus bringing much-needed nutrients and oxygen to rejuvenate and remove toxin-causing matter.
And in the end I would like to recommend Maria Mitchell quote “There is no cosmetics for beauty than happiness”. So always keep smiling and flush out all the worries.
