Winter is always welcomed with cheering faces. As, it is winter season that brings warmth of Christmas which spreads happiness all over the world. But seldom people even get scare for this season as they feel that it is not possible to control some health hazards. It is definitely not this case wherever there is a problem god definitely grants some or the other solution for all problems. Every problem in the world has a solution. Be it anything and I mean it anything.
Usually people are scared for the dehydration that takes during winter. It is very common assumption among the masses that winter cannot cause dehydration. But it is a fact that winter causes a hell lot of dehydration. Dehydration is a state where body looses a good amount of water and moisture leaving the body dry. As 55% to 65% of our body is made up of water; water is one of the most essential for the body to function it properly. Our body functions properly if they are not hindered by lack of water. Usually, the water is observed within the cells of the body’s intracellular space. And hence, if they are not in motion then the cells lose their nutrients and they are unable to reach the particular organ to nourish it.
Dehydration causes many troubles to the body. It is the main reason for diarrhea. And at the same time body looses a heavy amount of water during diarrhea and sweat. People suffering from diabetics significantly bear from dehydration as they promote blood sugar levels causing sugar to dribble into the urine and water then followed. Even the burn victim go through dehydration as they damaged skin absorbs lots of water leaving the rest of skin dry; killing all the cells which are essential to nourish the body.
Body also looses water when we vomit as it is phase where there is loss of fluid and at the same time it makes impossible to replace the nourishment of body by drinking water.
During hot weather the body’s normal system has a chain reaction when body goes through sweat. As body starts sweating the volume of blood in body decreases which triggers the hypothalamus which is brain’s thirst center. The strike that brain receives leaves the brain to send out a demand for increase in fluids which makes us feel thirsty and we drink water.
But what happens in winter is our hormone that activate our sense of thirst responds differently when our body is disclosed to winter and thus people don’t drink as much as water they should drink.
Whenever your see some specific signs taking place within your body make sure that body is suffering from dehydration. Like:
- Whenever you feel more then required thirst.
- You can also detect it from the change in color of urine. In dehydration the color of urine changes to yellow color which is a shows lack of water for disposal of toxins from the body.
- The body feels a great amount of tiredness during dehydration.
- It also results in frequent headaches.
- They leave the nasal passage dry.
- Most common symptom is dry and cracked lips with dry mouth.
- When our eyes stop making tears.
To prevent your body from getting dehydrated it is very important to:
- Drink lot of water. Drink even if you are not feeling thirsty as sometimes your brain won’t message you that your body requires water. Water also helps us to flush out all the toxins that are harmful for body. And at the same time water also leaves your body moist. Usually you should always drink at least 1 liter of water but during cozy winter try to drink more water than one liter as the cold absorbs lot of water. Also water leaves your skin moist and doesn’t make it look dry and dull.
- Avoid drinking the fluids that causes more dehydration. The fluids those contain caffeine and tannin absorb a lot of moisture from body. Tea, coffee and energy drink can definitely shoot the laziness but they cause a lot of dehydration in body.
- Keep off yourself from alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic drinks utilize a lot of water to metabolize alcohol. And thus increases the risk of dehydration.
But like I said earlier every problem in the world has solutions. And most of the times there are so simple remedies to guard off the problem but we hunt rather everywhere then just peeping in our home. Our sweet home is the greatest treasure for many remedies.
So whenever you feel dehydrated just peep in your kitchen and you find hell lot of answers to your quests.- Savorless Food: As and when your body suffers from dehydration jump into some savorless food stuff. As these foods are easily digestible within 24 hours and thus avoids stomach cramps that occur due to heavy food. Food stuff like potatoes, rice and soda crackers are good to consume during dehydration.
- Bananas: Bananas possess greater water content and thus are particularly good for bushelling the potassium that has felled due to dehydration.
- Lime juice: Blend a glass of water with one teaspoonful of lime juice with a dash of salt and sugar crystals. It is the simplest potable to cure mild dehydration.
- Ice: Ice can be considered as one of the best simple remedy to beat off dehydration. Imbibe the ice, or rub it on your body when you feel inflamed. This process will help you getting cool down and avoid evaporation of water.
- Raisins: Grab some raisins quickly as they are packed with potassium, a body salt that is vanished during dehydration.
- Yogurt: Relish with yogurt during dehydration as they possess sodium and potassium and both are used for substituting electrolytes.
- Watery fruits: Apart from bananas there are good amount of fruits for rehydrate. The fruits that contain heavy amount of water content have amazing effects on dehydration. Fruits like Cantaloupe, Watermelon and Strawberries have greater proportion of water. This fruits are no doubt delicious and even nutritious. Watery vegetables like as cucumbers are also effective.
- You can also add some ginger powder to buttermilk. Consume it for three- four times in a day to eradicate dehydration.
- Drinking pomegranate juice is also effective on dehydration.
- Sip some coconut water is also very beneficial on dehydration.
- Blend four teaspoonful of curd with some roasted cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds. Take this mixture thrice in a day. This home made remedy is very useful in desiccation.
- One fruit that creates wonder on dehydration is Papaya. Grate some papaya and boil in water. Filter the mixture and drink the brew which proves to be very effective when body looses water.
- And one very easiest way to get rid off dehydration is grab some fresh fruits which have good water content.
