Plant A Tree, Plant Your Life Long Happiness

Garden Magic
This is the garden’s magic,
That through the sunny hours
The gardener who tends it, Himself outgrows his flowers.

He grows by gift of patience,
Since he who sows must know
That only in the Lord’s good time
Does any seedling grow.

He learns from buds unfolding,
From each tight leaf unfurled,
That his own heart, expanding,
Is one with all the world.

He bares his head to sunshine,
His bending back a sign
Of grace, and ev’ry shower becomes
His sacramental wine.

And when at last his labors
Bring forth the very stuff
And substance of all beauty
This is reward enough.

“Oh grandpa, when will this plant grow? I water everyday, I take care. But still it is going big” my grumbling voice used to get more agitated by looking at the plant which I use to water everyday and still it was refusing to grow. My grandpa like always smiling and patiently trying to convince me “Give him time Barney and smile at him he will grow. By the way do you know John .F. Kennedy?” I was still glaring at my plant with a grumpy look when his question bought me back “Umm…off course grandpa.. I do know him. He was 35th president of U.S” he smiled “Well that’s great you know he had quoted in once:

“The great French Marshall Lyautey once asked his gardener to plant a tree. The gardener objected that the tree was slow growing and would not reach maturity for 100 years. The Marshall replied, ‘In that case, there is no time to lose; plant it this afternoon!’”

“So dear, don’t worry about the time. Right now you do your job; nature will do its job”. I still remember his words and those quotes. He had an immense love of gardening and that’s what kept him happy and smiling all his life. It was actually my grandpa who instilled this interest in me and somehow persuaded me to continue.

But as I entered in my youth, my grandpa had taken his path to heaven. I had flied long from home for work reasons. And since I being workaholic; plants and gardening had just erased from my brain. It was this summer when my mother actually compelled me to take summer leave and join them at home. I wanted to return. I myself had been torn out of because of this stress. But at this time of my return things were change to a great extent. Our lawn had turned dry. It dint look as fresh as it use to be.

A house without green lawn is like a house in a desert.

I was actually planning to work on the garden when suddenly some kids from my neighborhood popped in my place and requested me to give them some home work as they had a school project “help and earn”. Already I was in middle of something and now this kids… what can this kids help me with? But this is what clicked me and I gave them the work gardening. This way they can help me turn this lawn in a garden and even it will make them also happy.
