A cracked lip; raw skin;
I pined for orange flickers
Of a dancing fire.
A cutting blast of air
Had caught me unawares, again!
– reinforcing my desire.
Turning down an avenue,
I froze; bald, suspicious trees
– likely destined for a pyre –
Laughed off the icy chill
Of callous Winter nights.
And I? Simply to retire
Inside a clasping chair
Of warming solitude.
And at the door, a festive choir.
I guess everyone in my peer group go crazy when I say ‘I love winters’. But it is a fact I m winter lover. I love the snow, the coziness in sleeps, the warm food, I mean I love everything about winter. No doubt the main reason is’ Christmas’. The season of joy. It is this season which gives you lot of reason to smile.
But usually people generally tend to see only the dry side of it. It is very well said that things will turn out as you see them. Even a heaven will turn into a hell if you don’t enjoy the privilege they offer you. So I would like to recommend people that see the beautiful side of this season. Yeah, I do agree that there are certain drawbacks but like when god gives provides you with nuts he even gives you strong teeth to break them. So every problem has a solution. You just need to utilize them in a right way.
Similarly when god has given winter and dryness then he is the only one who has provided with all the remedies here only; on this earth. Its we, who need to use them in a right way,.
Usually, skin is one of the major organs of the body which get hamper due to the dryness. But like I said earlier every problem has a solution. For me at least I have found some great ways to handle my skin and keep it moist and beautiful through out the winter. I know it is very bad to keep the beauty secrets to yourself so girls, here am I sharing all my secrets with you and hope it as helpful to you as it is to me.
Drinking lot of water keeps you away from dehydration. Internal hydration makes skin plump and fresh. Water is a great medium for transportation of nutrients to skin cells. But always remember to have water at room temperature or it hampers your digestive system.
Consume water rich veggies like green leafy vegetables and green skinned squashes. They are great source of internal hydration.
Avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks as they are great disasters to your body sine they are excellent in dehydrating body.
Eating warm cooked food, warm water and perform moderate exercise as they help in blood circulation, digestion and don’t let body to get stagnate.
Massage yourself with oil. The oil itself does wonders for parched skin, but the benefits go deeper. The oil actually acts as a affection on skin dryness. They soothe your skin and leave a very soft texture.
The massage with oil calms your mind, which helps you in getting more focused and alert, and lets you have a grip on your emotions. It’s also revitalizes your day but at the same time you can enjoy a sound sleep. Sesame oil, almond oil or drops of Aloe Vera can be proved as a great agent for relieving you’re from that stiffness and dryness.
Instead of using soap which leaves your skin more dry, use some a mild cleanser. A mixture of chick pea flour or oatmeal with milk is also very good for skin.
Then one more traditional way to have a healthy skin comes from everyone’s kitchen. Just heat cow’s milk for few minutes and let the skin get over it. Then mix it with little rose water or lemon juice and mix it with the end of spoon. Till, it gets creamy. Apply it soft to your face and you will rejuvenate in thirty minutes.
Another great way of having a luxurious and rich skin is by using paste of warm water and almond meal, which contains fatty acids that help keep skin smooth. Making the almond magic is very easy just blend the almond into fine powder and mix it with warm water to make a smooth paste. Massage the entire paste with your fingers on your face which helps the blood to circulate in a proper way and gives you hydrated skin.
Winter even affects elbows, knees, and feet leaving them dry. To get a smooth skin all over them mix together two parts mung- or garbanzo-bean flour with one part full-fat organic yogurt. Let this mixture settle in a bowl for 10 minutes, then massage it with circular motions into your rough spots. Dry the mixture on the skin and leave it on your skin for 30 minutes or so. Rinse it with warm water and feel the smoothness.
Eat a huge amount of fruits in your diet which nourishes your skin and leaves your skin very beautiful.
Use of moisturizing cream helps you in great way. It keeps you away from the dust and pollution.
Isn’t this are few simple and great ways to enjoy your winter with a moist heart and healthy skin.
Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home. ~Edith Sitwell
