Meditation Is The Way To Tranquility



Meditation can be simply defined as the way of being aware. It lifts the fog of our ordinary life to reveal what is hidden at the same time it loosens the knot of self centeredness and opens the heart wide. Meditation embodies the  way of awakening both the path and its fruition. From one point it is the means of awakening from another and also it is the self awakening.

Meditation teaches us how to be precisely present and focused on this one breath, the only breath; the only moment. There is no doubt that today many people practice it for physical and mental health which is deeper approach to practice energizes our inner life and opens the door to the realization. According to the Tibetan culture the word for meditation is ‘gom’ which literally means’ familiarization or getting used to it. In this sense meditation means that we familiarize ourselves with our mind.

Meditation health benefitsMeditation is not about getting away form it all, numbering it out or stopping thoughts. Without trying to get rid off the messy thoughts and uncomfortable feelings we actually learn how to practice being aware at ever moment. This also helps in cultivating the awareness for any respective object like sound, smell, touch, sensations and perceptions.

In Tibetan form Buddhism is said that detachment is the root of meditation and devotion is its head. Bodhicitta is its soul. Mindfulness is its breath, observation its skin and non-distraction is its quintessence. Balance and harmony is the seat of meditation and penetrating its wisdom is its eye.

There are many techniques for developing concentration and insight. Mindfulness is the tool we sue to bring the mind back home to the present moment just as it is. Mindful is the awareness that frees us from the habitual patterns, opening up from the stimulus and response, allowing us to consciously choose how to respond to things rather than blindly react.

A perfect way to sit for meditation:
  • Sit comfortable and close your eyes or lower your look. Take a deep breath or two and relax. Breathe slowly and let go, releasing all the tension in your body.
  • Stop doing and settle back into just being. Let things happened without your direction or intercession. Open yourself to the wisdom of allowing, of inclusive acceptance. This is the inner secret to natural meditation.
  • Don’t get lost. Stay right here at home and at the ease. Befriend yourself, familiarize yourself with your fundamental presence. Let the awareness be uninterrupted by the techniques or concepts.
  • If and when you feel lost, distracted, spaced out or sleepy, get in touch with your breath. Watch the breath, observe the inhalation and exhalation as they effortlessly occur. For the moment feel the breath moving in and out, anchoring you in the present moment while you let everything go, without judgment, evaluation or interference.
  • Opening gradually to the effortlessness of pure presence, turn your attention inward. This is the process and practice of inner freedom.
