We spend many nights sleepless and start searching for some miracles that will cure our loved ones. Even I have faced such situation when doctors declared that my granny is a diabetic patient. It was very hard for us to digest as she had always been a very healthy woman. The sudden news of her diabetic left us spell bound. Thus we all started searching the numerous cures like home remedies, herbal treatment etc.
As we all know this disease develops slowly and silently many people realize it late about their ailment. Apart from that there are many healthy people with diabetes. But as science has advanced so much we have got an amazing brighter side of this ailment. The proper management of diabetics will make an individual live healthy and productive lives ahead just like any other non diabetic person. The only condition is that he understands the problem properly and co-operates actively in his own treatment. Managing diabetic definitely doesn’t mean living a dull and tedious life.
Like in my granny’ case we understood that her life is just a bit of different but can be made more beautiful.

Apart from all medication we had found that even exercise is very important in healing diabetic. Yoga is very effective in healing diabetic. But in diabetes type 1 the patient is unable to produce any insulin and thus it is very difficult to cure with yoga. Diabetes type 2 which is caused by faulty lifestyle and stress can be treated with the help of yoga. My granny being type 2 diabetic, yoga proved to be very effective in her case.
Even their age is a not a issue to worry. They can carry out exercise like yoga and brisk walking which are very much beneficial for their health. Exercise is very much essential part in the treatment of diabetes. Exercise uses up glucose and improves the sensitivity of the body to insulin. In addition, it also helps in losing weight, prevents heart ailments, and increases the level of blood pressure. As exercise uses up glucose it has the tendency to reduce the level of blood glucose.

Sun Salutation:
It is believed that sun salutation is very good exercise for the diabetic patients. This exercise actually increases the supply of blood to various organs of the body. It also improves the insulin organization in the body. Practicing just four rounds per minute will provide you with all the other benefits. And if you practice at slow pace you will be benefited with the properties of yoga asanas.
Yoga Asanas:
Yoga asanas have proved to be very beneficial in the treatment of diabetes. The best features of yoga asanas are steadiness and soothing. Once you have attained the posture you need to relax all your muscles. Stay in the same posture as long as you can. The stretches, twist during exercise results in strains. The strains in the body thus increase the supply of blood and oxygen to the organs. It eventually increases the efficiency and operation of the endocrine system. Numerous asanas like Dhanur asana, Ardhamatsyendra asana, Vajrasana Yoga Mudra, Pavan Muktasana, Sarvangasana, and Matsyasana have proved to be useful for diabetic patients. These asanas have optimistic result on insulin and pancreas functioning.
Pranayama:
Well in Hath yoga they have mentioned eight types of pranayama. Nadi shodhan pranayama is the best yogic asanas for diabetic person. Even researchers have shown that the Bharamari asanas have very cooling effect on brain, mind and nervous system of the human body. Regular practice of pranayama boosts the level of oxygen and mellows down the level of carbon dioxide in the blood. Pranayama is one of the revitalizing yoga asanas. It is very much beneficial for healthy breathing. Regular practice of pranayama helps the respiratory system to breathe properly and provides with sufficient amount of oxygen in the body. While we perform pranayama the pressure is applied to diaphragm and abdominal muscles. And thus it reduces stress to great extent. But before one starts performing pranayama it is necessary to do some warm up and go for cooling down process after pranayama. It is also beneficial if one is able to do certain another exercise of breathing with pranayama like fast breathing, deep breathing etc.

Meditation:

Regular meditation helps in calming our nervous system which balances our every emotion. A stressed individual usually suffer from numerous ailments but daily meditation helps him fight with all ailments. The individual who practices daily meditation comparatively have a calm mind and peaceful way of thinking. No doubt in the initial stages meditation may be difficult but regular practice will make it a habit. Concentrate more on breathing process. It helps us in controlling our body system. Learn to deep breathe and slow. This will allow your body to gain as much as pure oxygen. It is very essential that our all organs get sufficient amount of oxygen. Meditation helps in gaining enough amount of oxygen.
Yoga Nidra:

But it has to be performed once in a six months. In this process our body actually starts cleansing the gastro intestinal tract. During this process you need to drink two glass of warm water mixed with salt and lemon juice. After gulping down this mixture you need to carry out six different types of exercise. All these exercise helps in cleansing the bowels and this flushes out all toxic matter from the body. Apart from flushing out all toxic substances from the body it also helps in restoring our health.
Just few extra efforts helped my granny to live a healthier life and now when she is in her 70’s she has made a remarkable example. It is not that she is living a life but she is living her life to fullest. Right food at right time and in right quantity along with adequate sleep and moderate exercise has given her amazing strength. One thing I can say if she can do all this in her 70’s then why not the people who get struck with diabetes in their early ages.
