Hope you guys done with your reaction, so now can I clarify Horse’s Smell in Sanskrit means ASHWAGANDHA.  Withania Somnifera a binomial name for Ashwagandha is also known as Indian Ginseng, Winter Cherry, Ajagandha, Kanaje Hindi, Ayamodakam in Malayalam and Samm Al Ferakh, is a plant in SOLANACEA or nightshade family.

Ashwagandha is beautiful plant which resembles to tomato and to be precise also belong to the same family. It bears yellow flowers and red fruits – berry like in size and shape.

Ashwagandha has s long medicinal history stemming back 4000 years. It is vital drug in Ayurveda and Indian traditional medicine. In Ayurveda, Ashwagandha is regarded as rasayana herb. It is also believed to be a adaptogen which works to normalize psychological functions working on the HPA axis and the neuroendocrine system.

In modern medical uses of Ashwagandha is variegated. It is been very encouraging in the treatment of mental health issues. Consuming approx 40ml of Ashwagandha can act as anxiolytic   After 30 days, all anxiety symptoms including panic attacks and paranoia are gradually melted. Seven American and four Japanese firms have filed for grant of patents on formulations containing extracts of the herb. The Japanese patent applications are related to the use of the herb as a skin ointment and for promoting reproductive fertility. One of the esteemed US establishment, the New England Deaconess Hospital, have taken a patent on an Ashwagandha formulation claimed to alleviate symptoms associated with arthritis.

Ashwagandha is native to India, Nepal, Pakistan , Bangladesh and Sri lanka. In India it is commercially cultivated in Madhya Pradesh. It is found in abundance in Asiatic countries.
