Every once in a while, we all come across situations like these in our lives where we feel our anger is not the problem, we are. And why not? How much ever you try to stay in check of your anger levels, there’s always something that occurs that prove disastrous; a difficult boss, cranky children, pesky neighbors, a car that won’t start, a check that keeps bouncing. The problems are endless. However, it is necessary to understand, if you haven’t already, that keeping your cool and managing matters diligently is top priority. Not only because it makes life easier, it keeps you healthier.
The biggest harm that anger does to us is that it alters our entire state of mind, in the sense that once we are angry, it takes really long to subside, and often by the time we have cooled down, enough damage has been done. We all come across situations, where our anger is driven to rage and we lose control of our actions. If these situations continue without any change, people soon start avoiding such a person. You would too… wouldn’t you?
Anger, afterall, is a natural emotion, and anything in excess is bad. However, anger management is not too difficult, provided you are ready to face some early glitches, such as not being able to cope. Here are a few anger management tips that you could try for yourself, or suggest to someone who needs them:-
- Learn to breathe, slow and deep: There’s always the feeling of rising tension when we have our heart rate increasing because of heavy breathing. Chill out. Taking a few deep breaths when angry is a integral part of restoring calm. When you breathe easy, your body and mind gets rejuvenated automatically, leading to you feeling better without doing too much.
Count to ten: This ancient technique of anger management is the most effective. Horace, the great Roman said “when angry count to ten, when very angry to a hundred.” What he probably meant to suggest was take time to understand the reason for the anger and a reasonable solution. We often get angry when we fail to take a moment to tackle the problems at hand.- Make use of alone time: Life gives us plenty of opportunities to get angry; we get angry at friends, family, children, unknown people, colleagues. We even get frustrated on idleness or burn out and end up getting the anger down on someone else. The solution to this is to take some time out alone for yourself. Go to a ground and run. Go down to a basement and scream. Break something. Beat the hell out of the punching bag. Just make sure that whatever you do, you feel the baggage lighten.
- Cut yourself some slack: It is never easy to settle down to setbacks, or losses or defeats. They always bring us down. However, it is impossible to always stay happy and content. This simply means that if you want to be happy, you need to let things go. Indulge in some hobby you like. Listen to some music. Dance. Do whatever it takes for you to bounce back to the good old, jolly you.
- Look for the silver lining: No situation or cause, however bad, is absolutely lost. Yeah, the grass may seem greener on the other side, but hey, you at least got some grass. You’ll always find people with better things, better lives. However, be thankful for the life you got- a lot of people in the world get a lot lesser.
It is quite obvious from the above given anger management tips that anger management is not such a difficult task. It may seem impossible at first to create opportunities for yourself, to follow some or all of them. However, following these anger management tips are the least you can do to make yourself and a lot many others happy.

Its not the tasks that are difficult, but being consistent is..
Once a person decides to be consistent with what he has learned and then make it a habit, with support from family and friends and the SELF at most, then life would be so blissful and full of joy..And you won’t have to feel guilty for something you said on impulse..
